Writing poetry is a creative and expressive way to express your thoughts and feelings. But writing poetry in another language can be both challenging and rewarding. If you are a native speaker of Spanish (or any other language), have you ever tried writing poetry in English? What motivated you to do so? What difficulties did you encounter? What did you learn from this experience? Share your poems and stories

In itself, in our mother tongue it is very difficult due to its complexity and enormous wealth of expressive resources. So I could say that writing poetry in English would be somewhat complicated since its lyrics and rhymes are totally different from our idea apart from their ways of writing. The way of interpretation is another hard one... Quite a challenge if you ask me.

I've never tried with poetry but I write most of my prose in English first. I've read far more books in English than in Spanish and I guess my vocabulary is just better in that language. I don't write poetry in any language though, it's just not for me.

First of all you have to be a poet, because you can even have a command of language and writing ✍️ that if you don’t know .. you don’t know, it will never come out and it’s my case.

I have, despite not being good at it in Spanish (it's not exactly the kind of prose I write). However, I find it easier to write poetry in English because the rhythm tends to be easier. For me, anyway.
